Named for a house at the crossroads
Pioneers came from several southern states, and Thomas J. Owens, from Virginia, was the first to build his family home near an intersection of two roads; the community's name comes from that house at the cross roads. It appeared on maps by 1850, got a post office in 1861, was incorporated as a town on October 9, 1967, and became a city on October 10, 2022.
Rules
Owens Cross Roads has its own city hall; check there about tree rules and limb pickup, since neither turned up anywhere we could cite. Alabama's tree surgery permit and Alabama 811 apply statewide; see permits and rules.
Other towns with requests: Madison, Harvest, Hazel Green, and Huntsville itself. See every area.
